The new kitchen is organised in three zones. The main run is built around a range cooker and a bespoke mantle, with full-height fridge and freezer housings at either end and matching dressers and drawer stacks mirrored either side — a nod to the homeowner’s passion for symmetry. A separate drinks area, with a wine cooler and two walnut-stained shelves on corbels, sits apart from the working kitchen.

At the centre is the island. It was inspired by a dairy table — turned legs and a rail beneath the worktop — but built to work like a kitchen island, with the Belfast sink, integrated dishwasher and double bin unit all built in. Our designer Freddie worked closely with the homeowner to get each detail right, and everything was handmade to measure.

As with every Shaker Wholesale kitchen, the quality sits in the details: solid oak dovetail drawers, 18mm oak veneered carcasses, Blum soft-close runners and full in-frame construction.

The cabinetry is hand-painted in Palazzo 50, one of our standard colours, with antique brass hinges throughout. The island is oak with a walnut-stained finish, picked up again in the drinks-area shelving. The worktops are Calacatta Massa quartz, chosen after seeing the full slab at Anything Stone.

The finishing touches were sourced by the homeowner herself: a Rangemaster range cooker, brushed brass Lusso taps, Laura Ashley light fittings, Atlantica bar stools and a splashback from DIY Splashbacks.
