A look at how our in-frame cabinets are crafted — from raw timber to the finished kitchen, built with care, precision and timeless design in mind.
At Shaker Wholesale, we believe that the beauty of a kitchen comes from how it’s made. Every cabinet that leaves our workshop begins as raw timber, shaped and assembled with care by skilled hands using time-honoured joinery methods.
This isn’t mass production — it’s craftsmanship on a meaningful scale, combining modern precision with traditional techniques.
What “In-Frame” Really Means
If you open one of our kitchen doors, you’ll notice something that sets it apart from many others: the door sits within a solid frame, not on top of it. That’s what we call “in-frame” construction.
It’s a small detail, but it changes everything. The frame provides strength and stability, keeping doors perfectly aligned for years. It also gives each cabinet a more refined, furniture-like appearance — the hallmark of a true premium kitchen.
Many modern kitchens use “lay-on” doors that simply screw onto the front of the carcass. They’re faster and cheaper to make, but they can never match the precision or durability of in-frame craftsmanship.
Our cabinetry begins with responsibly sourced hardwoods and high-grade sheet materials. Every length of timber is inspected, planed, and prepared by hand before it becomes part of a cabinet.
Door frames and panels are joined using traditional mortise and tenon joints — a method favoured by furniture makers for centuries because of its strength and stability. The doors are then sanded smooth, ready for painting and final finishing.
Precision machinery ensures consistency, but it’s our craftsmen who bring each piece to life checking tolerances, and ensuring every hinge and drawer runner is perfectly set.
Our production facility in Vietnam is a partnership built on shared values of quality and integrity. It allows us to achieve the meticulous standards we demand while maintaining affordability for our customers.
Each cabinet is produced under controlled workshop conditions, assembled, and finished by a team who specialise exclusively in in-frame kitchen manufacture.
Every hinge, drawer slide, and handle position is tested and retested before sign-off. Shelves fit perfectly; drawer boxes glide smoothly; frame lines remain crisp and true.
Even the unseen parts — the back panels, underside edges, and cabinet interiors — receive the same level of care. We believe that quality should be consistent throughout, not just where people look.
Once assembled, each cabinet receives a multi-stage paint process using durable, high-quality Caparol paints. This isn’t a quick spray — it’s a layered, hand-finished coating that gives the surface its depth and soft sheen.
The final colour is always bespoke to the customer’s choice — whether that’s one of our fourteen curated shades or a completely custom RAL colour. The result is a tactile, timeless finish that complements the craftsmanship beneath it.
Cabinets are then shipped to the UK, where they are delivered to our customers prior to installation and final paint finishing.
This combination of global craftsmanship and UK finishing ensures that every Shaker kitchen is beautifully made, ethically produced, and exceptional value.
An in-frame kitchen isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about longevity. A well-made cabinet should feel solid, close quietly, and look as good ten years later as it did on the day it was installed.
That’s why we refuse to cut corners. The integrity of the build is what allows us to stand behind every kitchen we make — confident that it will serve its owners for decades.
There’s a world of difference between looking at a kitchen online and standing in front of one. When you open a Shaker Wholesale cabinet, you’ll feel the reassuring weight and hear the soft close of a door that’s been built properly.
